Nov. 2, 2008, Back Home in the Philippines

We arrived back in the Philippines on Nov. 2, but not without problems, naturally. The van that was supposed to pick us up at the airport had broke down...so we were stranded overnight. Tired, hungry, sweaty, stinky and sitting in the parking lot of Manila's airport. Not fun...Guys harrassing you for money, scam artist, prostitutes walking around....Yeah, ti was a "fun" night to say the least. Ferd finally wheeled and dealed and found a legit driver that he hired to take us home. We had never met the guy, so youre never sure if he is planning to slit your throat and take your money or not..Thankfully, we made it back home.

Other than that...Actually, it was the smoothest flights we had ever had...not like some that made we swear off flying. But this time, everything was calm and smooth and as enjoyable as 24 hours in the air can be.

When we descended into Manila, I cried. Seeing the lights from the ships in the Bay and all the millions of lights that shown throughout all the land..I was happy to be home. Being away makes you really realize what home means to you. When I saw that land appear, I realized that I had successfully put aside my bad feelings of all the turmoil that has happened the past 5 years.... No matter what all has happened here, there is no place like home!
