Today was fun...tiring, but fun. We have our upcoming Ladies Meeting on Saturday, so today, 6 ladies and I went into the big city of Dagugan and went shopping! The church alotted us 3,000 Pesos ( about 60 $) to get items to beautify the auditorium.
My mom has told me about TV shows that give you a small budget and you have to redecorate a room. I felt I was on that show! Trying to decorate a whole church auditorium with 60$ was a challenge. We ran everywhere. We were on the streets, bargaining with the vendors, we were in the Chinese sweat shops ...we were everywhere! I am good with bargaining, but my white skin is a disadvantage. Everyone thinks I am "rich" ...As soon as I open my mouth, they are shocked to see that I can speak that language, which lets them know that I have been here a while and I know what I am doing.
It took us about 4-5 hours, sweating, walking...street children hanging one me...beggars pulling my clothes.....pheww.....but we found curtains, shades , rods & ties backs for 2 large windows and tons of flowers and flower stands, and we stayed within our budget.
Its another day of realizing how much I miss good ole' Wal Mart!
