April 30, 2007

Today was VERY hot and very stressful, yet a good day. I have come to learn that here in the Philippines, there is always obstacles to overcome, and today was no different.
We had the first day of our Annual VBS, which overall went well. The obstatcles I am referring to, are #1 - THE HEAT!!! It is easily over 100 degrees with no wind or breeze. I am covered in sweat bumps. #2 - Tons of kids. Yes, a HUGE blessing, but when you have nearly 100 kids and 5 teachers, things can get interesting!!! #3 - We had a brown out ( which is what Filipinos call it) in the middle of the program, which meant no microphones and no fans...needless to say, screaming and sweating do not make for a very pleasant day (-:
But, all those obstacles were worth it in the long run. We had many kids come forward for salvation and during the story and salvation challenge, they were so quiet and so good. The Lord was really working.
Our theme was Ang Kaharian Ng Dios ( The Kingdom of God) and we workers built a styrophone castle and dressed "royally" to show that because we have accepted King Jesus into our life, we are children on the King and heirs to His Kingdom. The kids loved it.
Anyway, we have the rest of the week, which will no doubt be as hot and sure to have bumps along the way.
